The challenge
The challenge is simple to state and long to finish: read one book in each of five genres for each of 197 countries. That comes to 985 squares to stamp. The five genres are Contemporary Fiction, Mystery & Thriller, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Poetry, and Memoir & Nonfiction.
You do not have to plan the whole route at once. Pick a country, pick a genre, read, and stamp. The map keeps track of the rest.
How a book finds its country
- Scan the ISBN barcode on a book, or search for it by title.
- Atlas finds the author's home country and stamps that country's square for the right genre.
- A book is stamped to the country of its author, not the country of its publisher.
- Open the reading passport, tap a country, and add a log entry with its start and finish dates.
What is inside
- Reading passport. A true-to-size world map of all 197 countries, where tapping a country opens its five genre squares and a tap moves you between continents.
- Badges. There are 100 to earn, from a first stamp to completing whole regions and continents, and each one can be shared as an image.
- Reading list. Save books to it from any country square.
- Import and export. Bring in your reading history from a Goodreads or StoryGraph CSV export, and export your Atlas library at any time from Settings.
- Journey screen. A timeline of every milestone in the order you earned it.
- Passport screen. Your reading streak, favorite genre, books logged this month and year, countries visited, and progress toward a reading goal.
- Home screen widget. It shows your current stamp count and opens your passport or reading record with a tap.
